RICHARD, when I see one, I'll point it out to Orc then HE can pick it up and put it in the back of the bus. I hope it doesn't weigh too much or else the bus will be doing wheelies!

Persimmons! Such fond memories of when I was a kid, we'd go up to my Aunt's farm in Shasta County to help her with the fall harvest on her farm and then we'd go to the persimmon farms. It was such fun. I remember one year we came home with so many, my mom spread them all out on the rumpus room (remember those?) floor to ripen and then we'd have persimmon bread, cookies, pies, bread pudding, and just plain eating them out of the skin that God gave them. Whenever I see persimmons in the store it brings back such wonderful memories of mom cooking up a storm and the wonderful smells coming out of the kitchen.

So, a cuppa hot cocoa with extra marshies and a slab of persimmon bread hot from the oven. Yumm! I'm in heaven!

Gosh we can open persimmon seeds and see what sort of winter we are going to have. That's what our weathermen use, I swear! (moff crosses fingers)

Let's see: a spoon shape means, snow, a knife shape means a cold winter, and a fork means a mild one. (I think)
No matter what anyone does, someone some where will be offended some how!!!!

I heard on the news that the Old Farmers' Almanac is saying that 2008 is going to be a warmer than average winter -- so I wonder what that translates to in persimmon seed-speak?

Corn with mayonnaise and parmesan? I'm not sure yet whether that sounds good or not. Just a little olive oil and black pepper on mine, please.

Can this be a bee-free apple picking expedition? I'm allergic to insect stings.

lbaker, I LOVE mayo on French fries! I worked with a nurse who grew up in Wyoming and she got me started on that. Also mayo with just a little catsup mixed in. I don't eat French fries too often anymore, with or without the mayo.

C'sMom.. saw a lot of the mayo w/ fries in The Netherlands but never tried it myself. I'll stick to fries with vinager (boardwalk style). And don't worry about the bees - I always have my bee kit (deadly allergic myself). Besides, this is Thursdays and no bugs allowed Well, Mario sometimes tries to bug people but that's just when he's feeling extra foolish.
