Someone was bitten near me a few days ago...I've always thought they were beautiful, but I generally stay out of the ocean anyways. Too cold!

I'm not really afraid of them, but if I lived near an ocean (which I don't), I'd stay as far out of their way as possible just like I would any other wild animal.

I am so glad I'm not the only one who thinks that. Many peaople think sharks should all die just because they attacked someone. What people don't understand is when you are going in the ocean, you are taking a risk. You go into the sharks' home and if you come across one it might attack, thinking you are prey.

Because of the movie Jaws, everyone thinks sharks are monsters and people go killing sharks (keep in mind 40 thousand sharks a year are kill by people) will really hurt us. The whole enviroment will be all messed up. There will be less fish, believe it or not there will be.

So next time you think of a shark, think of it more like a animal and less like a monster.

I love them. The more study is done on whites, the more intellegent they are proving to be. Of course, they are wild animals. I find it funny people are afraid of sharks but not tigers. If you went to a game reserve in India you wouldn't be thinking"omg the tigers are going to eat me!" I also love the fact that some species can be hand fed. ANyone else watch shark week? This year Mythbusters did a sharkweek special, Adam was punching sharks!

Not sure if many of you know this, but the chances of you getting bit by a shark is like one in a million. You have more of a risk by getting into a car accident then getting attacked by a shark.

I am deathly afraid of sharks! I hardly even go into the water at the beach.

I think sharks are neat. I wouldn't want to swim with one, but I like to watch them on tv or see them at sea world.

More people are killed per year by bees than by sharks. It's true!

Sharks are incredible creatures, the great survivors of the seas. When dinosaurs were roaming the earth and some even taking to the water, sharks were there, surviving, patiently waiting for their turn as top predator. They're still members of this earth today, and I expect they'll still be there, virtually unchanged, long after humans are no more.

For this reason, I find them fascinating. One of my great ambitions in life is to study them and perhaps go cage-diving with some great whites. Being close to such a powerful creature gives me chills of exhiliration, along with a feeling of my own insignificance on the earth.

I agree whole-heartedly with Nikki. The sea is the realm of the shark, and I cannot blame him for trying to survive if I wander out too far to sea. I always keep in the relative shallows anyway, for I am more of a sunbather rather than a swimmer at the beach (plus, the Atlantic is cold! ).

    Are you serious!?

And plus, 40,000 sharks are killed by people while only about three people are killed by sharks. That's a HUGE difference!
