This is aimed at all pet owners-- wake up! Even if you get your pet privately creamated by a "reputable" vet, chances are they aren't giving you ashes belonging to your pet. Fact of life, sorry to say.

I beg to differ. I'm sorry if you've had those kind of experiences, though.

This is really disturbing and terrible new I want to have my Bobo's ashes when he passes away someday, but news like this makes me scared that maybe it won't be his ashes that I get.

This place did creamations for the Humane Society - a big organization, but it sounds like they did them for vets as well.

This is a good time to ask your vet where cremations are done and how you know you are getting YOUR pet back.

Cole is due for his checkup later in Sept - I'll ask my doctor then.

I would hope a lot of vets have their own crematorium?

The last place I worked ran their own crematorium and had two options...a private cremation, where they did exactly that and gave you back YOUR pet's ashes...or a communal cremation, which was inexpensive, and many animals were cremated together and each owner got some of the mixed ashes.

I don't know how most crematoriums operate, but it seems that if they're going to do communal cremations they need to let the owners know.

This place...I don't even have words for this...it makes me want to cry just thinking about it.

    Thank you Wolf_Q!

My vet does private and communal cremations as well and gives you the option. I can't even begin to IMAGINE the horror and grief those people are going through. I always do private cremations and have Casey's cremains to prove it. Because I move around alot (or did up until now) I could never bury my pets. Having Casey's ashes in a beautiful wooden box with a gold heart on it gives me reassurance.

Personally, I think greed got the best of them. That's sad.

Well, my vet actually used Misty Garden's, but before they went down hill, switched to a new place. So hopefully, Misty Garden's weren't idiots then. But... I have a feeling we're going to get some results we may not want when we send in the ashes. We're going to send in some of Chelsea's fur that we have saved in with "her" ashes.
