I will be keeping up with the eagle's progress and will be happy to pass along any updates I get. I'm not sure if they will be able to help him or not as he seemed pretty injured, but we all are hoping for the best for this lil guy.

Let me ask Joel if he needs more blankets, I'm not really sure. We get all of our equipment from him so he would be the one to ask. I don't know why, but both of the eagles I have caught so far have always held something in there claws (grass, blankets etc). This poor guy when we first found him had a death grip on his own injured wing. It must make them feel better to hold onto something. When we take the blankets away from them they instantly try to find something else to grab.

I will keep everyone updated on Nine Miles (LOVE the name Phred!!).

Aww, poor guy. I sure hope that he/she can be helped & survive.
I have heard of some large birds with broken wings can be saved. Maybe
not released into the wild, but able to live in a refuge center. Best of luck
    for 9 miles.

How wonderful that someone even reported him for you to get to him! Best wishes for Nine Miles!

Our local zoo acquired 2 eagles last year. They are from a rescue group and while now healthy, they are unable to fly. They have an enormous habitat with many branches and trees tilted this way and that, and they hop about and get up quite high.

What a stunning eagle he is! Wow. I'm glad he won the tug of war with the blanket! No matter how proud or strong they seem, I think everyone (animal or human) needs something soft to hold on to when they are hurt and scared. I think they should all receive a blanket for their flights to Raptor Recovery.

That is so cool! What great adventures you're having. And getting to be in that beautiful scenery. I would be taking tons of pics. Do you scrapbook? I don't know how much time you have but these would be great for one.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that he'll get better! That must have been tough finding him in the bushes at an approximate mile out of town. He really, really liked his blanket, huh?

What a great experience to be able to be up close and helping such a magnificent raptor.
