For the Newer Pet Talkers, and anyone else who hasn't seen the
sometimes "lengthy" posts devoted to Planning these Events,
and the always enjoyable "Reports" (complete with extensive
Photo Coverage) of the Events ~
Here's a capsule summary of What Goes On:
We "Gather" at the very nice Hancock County Park District "Dog Park" in the
north-western corner of OHIO.
Facilities include:
* A 2-acre fully fenced OFF-leash Dog Park - with picnic tables, running water,
a few shade trees, grass, a lil mud, a collection of toys & balls -
a fine place to let a Friendly Pooch *romp* with other dogs.
* And 100 feet away ~ An enclosed (on two sides) Covered Picnic Pavilion
with concrete floor, picnic tables to seat 90 or so, electrical outlets,
2 charcoal grills - and enough Food & Covered Dishes to feed a mid-sized army!
(We NEVER go away hungry!!)
We Reserve and Rent the Pavilion - so there's no risk of it being "occupied"
by anyone except our Pet Talk Gang.
* Within 500 feet - there are two CLEAN Rest Rooms ~ OK, they don't *flush* -
but they ARE "clean", have concrete floors, and locking doors!
* A large, paved parking lot is within sight of the Dog Park and Pavilion.
* Many wooded Trails through the beautiful Park are available, but most
Folks hang with the Gang in the Dog Park or at the Pavilion.
* Food is casual / picnic stuff - everyone brings a lil extra to share - and as
said before - ya won't be hungry when you leave!
We can't stress enough that EVERYone is More than Welcome!!
We were all "strangers" when we came to our "first one" - and most everyone
who has been to one keeps coming back!
About the only "REQUIREMENT" is that the DOGS have to be "Registered"
to enter the Dog Park area.
Not a "big deal" - but it's da LAW!
If anyone is coming that has dogs that aren't "Registered" with Hancock PARKS -
it costs $10 - for up to THREE Dogs - and is good for the entire year.
PM me at "Cinder & Smoke" and I'll fill you in on the Registration procedures -
allow about 10 days to send for and receive your Permit.
If you're still "not sure" -
take a look at some of out Past Gathurins in these threads >>>

and "The Gang" keeps getting bigger -
so <YOU> will Fit Right IN!!
Please meet us in Findlay on September 2nd!!
..
Q: How do we go about registering for the dog park?
Here are *links* to two Hancock Park District web pages;
(Links corrected on 4/06/2007)
The first link has a brief "Tail" about the Riverbend Recreation Area. >>>
http://www.hancockparks.com/riverbend.html
And here is the *link* to see and PRINT the
Dog Park Yearly Permit Application >>> (Link corrected 4/06/2007)
http://www.hancockparks.com/pdf/DogParkApplication.pdf
NOTE: You Must Have "Adobe Acrobat Reader" installed on
your 'puter to Load & See this .pdf file...
If you don't have Adobe Reader -
I guess PM Me at "Cinder & Smoke" and we'll get you a form.
Note 2: The Application is TWO Pages long -
be SURE to Print Page 1 AND Page 2;
Page 2 is a WAIVER that Must Be Signed & Returned -
and is at the Very BOTTOM of page 2.
What you need to SEND IN with the Application is >>
1) CHECK made out to Hancock Parks Foundation with
Memo to: Dog Park Permit
2) COPY (originals won't be returned) of the Dog's
. . Annual Vaccination Record (including distemper) from the VET...
. . (A Copy of the Office Visit Receipt is fine if the SHOTS
. . are noted & has Vet's Name on it).
. . DATE of Shots needs to be within ONE Year of now.
3) COPY of RABIES Vaccination Receipt ...
. . DATE within 1 or 3 years - depending on the vaccine used;
. . Most Rabies Receipts show an EXPIRATION date for the shot -
. . Rabies Vacc must be "current" (not expired).
. . (Fido should be *wearing* the Rabies "Tag".)
4) All Dogs must also be "Licensed" by the City, Town, County,
or State where you LIVE. Fido should be *wearing* his/her License Tag.
Send it all to:
Hancock Parks District
Attn: Dog Permit
1424 East Main Cross Street
Findlay, OH 45840
Cost of $10 / year registers 1, 2 or 3 Dogs.
(From December 1 to December 31 of the Following Year)
You'll receive a Plastic Laminated "Permit Card" in the Mail -
BRING IT WITH you on visits -
they WILL be Checking Permits this year!!
A note about the "DATES" shown on your Receipts ~
Parks is "happy" if the Dates on the Vet & Rabies Receipts are
"Current" within the LAST 12 Months of when you send them in...
In other words; if Fido had his "Shots" anytime AFTER September, 2006 ~
he's Good to Go!
And a 3 year Rabies shot is good if it was given AFTER September, 2005.
ANY Questions??
Post em or PM me.

OK - Here's how to get your MapQuest "Directions" with Turn-by-Turn Instructions ...
Use the Click-Link (below) to get to the From and To page for MapQuest.
**WAIT** till the page fully loads - or you'll goof up the pre-filled data!!
When the page finishes loading - you'll have TWO big data blocks -
the one on the LEFT asking for your STARTING Location;
the one on the RIGHT >> Already FILLED IN < with the Dog Park Address.
If you have it - do NOT use Microsoft's "AutoFill" - it will put your home address
in BOTH blocks - erasingthe pre-filled Dog Park Address!
JUST fill in your Home or "Starting" address in the LEFT (STARTING Location) Blocks.
Here's the *Link* to MapQuest >>>
MapQuest Directions To: Findlay, OH ~ DOG PARK
NOTE!! for ROBIN and anyone else driving North from the Columbus, Ohio, vicinity!!! >>>
The "old closed bridge detour" routing you up the WEST Side of the Reservoir
is no longer required ... the MapQuest directions are now correct just as
they print out from MapQuest.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
IF you want to use a GPS or another Mapping Service - here's the Dog Park Address:
16000 Township Road 208 -OR-
Township Road 207 AND Township Road 208
Findlay, OH 45840
GPS Coordinates: (WGS 84)
N. 41* 01.941'
W 083* 33.691'
The Dog Park is INside the Hancock Park District's "Riverbend Recreation Area";
about a mile south of Ohio Route 568;
and just north of the North-East Corner of the big Findlay Reservoir.
The Reservoir is on most maps - and stands out because it is drawn as a
Big SQUARE Blue Lake;
south-east of downtown Findlay.
If ANYONE has trouble with the Route to the Dog Park - PM "Cinder & Smoke"
with your E-mail and Home/Starting Address.

We've got our calendar marked![]()
Huney, Bon & Simba-missed so very much
Remembering all the Rainbow Bridge Pets
As far as I Know we will be there! Don't know how many dogs or how many people but some of us will be there (Christy, kids and 3 dogs will be living with us by then).
"That they may have a little peace, even the best
dogs are compelled to snarl occasionally."
--William Feather
This is where the Pet Talk Memorial (for Bowser, Sherman, Angus and the other beloved pets) is going to be? I'll try. I'd be pet-less, because Cassie Cat is NOT good in the car! I can give pettings, though.
Praying for peace in the Middle East, Ukraine, and around the world.
I've been Boo'd ... right off the stage!
Aaahh, I have been defrosted! Thank you, Bonny and Asiel!
Brrrr, I've been Frosted! Thank you, Asiel and Pomtzu!

Hey Gang ~ Pleeze don't furget da Dawggie *TREETz*!!
Bring either the "small" of "Byte-Sized" treets - mosta da Phunn fur
us 4-Leggers is the "GETTIN" da treet - a quick <munch> an we
can get rite back in line fur anudder wun ... kinda hate to have to spend
a lotta time <krunchin> up a BIG treat.
And for Mr. Chipper >>>
Chipper hazza "short list" of acceptable treets ...
Per Mom: Chipper can have treats that are organic or homemade.
We've had success with Solid Gold, Zuke's Mini Naturals, Old Mother Hubbard,
My Doggy Bites, and Wellness brands.
Things that are no-no's are treats that are loaded with preservatives and/or fillers.
Things like Beggin' Strips, ect. will make him one sick puppy.

Count us in! Me, Jack and Shadow that is!![]()
We'd like to drive down Saturday morning, camp out, hang out Sunday, stay the night again and head back early Monday. Might as well make a weekend out of it (since it'll be an extra long drive for me, I'll be coming from school which is in northern Michigan).
I did notice a campground close by to the park, I believe we passed one...anybody know more about this? Or other options? I guess we could stay in a hotel if we HAVE to![]()

OUCH!
They're not exactly *cheap*!
First off, it's a Holiday weekend --- so as a Speshul Bargin - they LET you
reserve a site for ALL THREE NIGHTS - Fri, Aug 31 + Sat & Sun, Sept 1 &2 ...
AT $18.00 per night PLUS $8.00 Fee to the reservation people.
Same price either Park; standard NON-electric sites.
She added it up to $62.00 for three nights (even if you only stay for two!)
Lake Side sites (4) at Mary Jane Thurston adds $2/night = $68.00 for 3 nights.
(And no extra charge for the Mosquitoes near the water!)
You can also surf the net for "RV Parks" = they sometimes let Tent Campers
use small camper sites.
You want something between Toledo and Findlay, and near I-75.
Be sure to CONFIRM the FurKids are "allowed" without any add-on charges!
I WILL BE THERE!
I think I might even see if I can bring my grandpup, Sammi. She would have a blast!![]()
