My house has screens, but I've lived in a house that didn't (and yes, we got a bird once). My sister's new house is 50/50 on screens, and all these houses are in VA.

We have screens on all but one window- which opens from the top. It's a rather old window. There aren't many mosquitoes in Denver, but there are other bugs around like bees, wasps, etc.- bugs without any kind of special affinity for water. So having screens is nice, I'm sure most people do, but you wouldn't get eaten alive by insects if you didn't have them here.

Yep, screens here and storm doors on front and back. I don't think I've ever seen a house without screens.
I know my house sure looked odd when my screens were off for a few days when they painted the house last summer.
No matter what anyone does, someone some where will be offended some how!!!!
