Not only do my windows have screens, but I put a second, adjustable screen in front of them to make SURE the cats cannot get out. (today's new screens are flimsy compared to yesteryear's metal mesh) And not only that, I want all critters that are outside to remain OUTSIDE!!!

The basement windows don't have any screens on them. The rest of the windows do.
A friend of mine has absolutely no screens on any of the windows in her house. Odd, seeing as there is a big mosquito problem where we live.
Other than that, the majority of the houses I've been in have screens.

    No screens here!

I moved to the Seattle area last December, and our rental had no screens. I thought that was an oversight on the part of the landlord, and then began seeing other houses without them. The house we just bought has no screens, either.

Initially I was hesitant to open the windows because of bugs, but it hasn't been much of a problem.

So...screens not required in the Pacific Northwest, apparently!

My house has screens, but I've lived in a house that didn't (and yes, we got a bird once). My sister's new house is 50/50 on screens, and all these houses are in VA.

We have screens on all but one window- which opens from the top. It's a rather old window. There aren't many mosquitoes in Denver, but there are other bugs around like bees, wasps, etc.- bugs without any kind of special affinity for water. So having screens is nice, I'm sure most people do, but you wouldn't get eaten alive by insects if you didn't have them here.

Yep, screens here and storm doors on front and back. I don't think I've ever seen a house without screens.

I know my house sure looked odd when my screens were off for a few days when they painted the house last summer.

No kidding! Our landlord just got new Pella windows put in our house. I always thought those were supposed to be good windows and I was looking forward to being able to open windows again when it got hot out.(our old screens/windows were shot) So they install the things and most of the screens are useless for people with pets or kids! The ones in the upstairs are the worst having only two small 'pins' that keep the screen from falling out, and the downstairs windows are only slightly better, but all of them install from the outside, meaning that if someone or some kitty, pushes on them a bit they fall OUTSIDE. My old beat up screens at least fit into a track that was firmly in place! So while I can now have no winter drafts, can keep the heat of the summer out better, and can clean all my windows from the inside, I cannot trust these screens with my cats unless I am home to watch them. Even after all this installation stuff, I STILL can't leave windows open for my kitties when I'm gone and that ticks me off! Heck they don't even fit tight enough to keep those gnats and noseeums out! Pella windows might be good, but their screens stink!

The screens on our windows fit well and are installed from the inside, but they aren't woven small enough to keep out tiny bugs. If I have the window open and the light on at night the bugs swarm all over. I have to vacuum them all off my ceiling before I can go to sleep. I also get these little black beetles who like the carpet in my room and invite themselves right in through the screen.

Yes we do! EVERY window that can be opened, does have a screen! And also both doors that lead to the garden

on this pic you can see it: the glass door is open, but the screen is still closed! Little Snoops wants to join Zazou on the patio

screens on all the windows. these windows are 15 years old, they slide up and down on the outside tracks and are strong enough to keep the cats inside. i'm planning on buying a new side door, with screens on it to inprove the kitchen ventilation later this summer.

We don't have to have screens in our windows. We don't have screens in all our windows. I don't think any birds or anything than a couple bugs have gotten in.
