Candace, I'm sorry I emailed them before I read this so I never got to include your name or information.

I don't want to press charges on my dad or anything like that. My dad has issues with a lot of stuff, and he really is driving me crazy. No, I cannot drive to Grand Forks by myself, and I don't have any relatives that live there or would be willing to help. My dad will not talk to the Humane Society, but he told me where he dropped it off. He brought it to a trailer court in town. I'm not exactly sure where it is, all he said was "the trailer court west of the college" ? Hopefully the poor soul has been found or someone can find it.

What is happening with your aunt? She's got to be worried about her cat. I'm going back and forth here as to whether it would be a good idea to tell her what your dad did. Maybe she'd be able to "scold" him and make him feel bad enough he'd go back to get it.

Dad may have issues, but I'd let him know that no matter if he was my father or not, that I would not let him abuse/neglect another animal and I would have no qualms about turning him in for it. That's just saying you're ok with what he did... it's enabling him, and I'd be he doesn't feel badly about what he did either. If it were my father who had done something like that (although he wouldn't cause he's worse than me when it comes to rescuing pets), I'd turn him in in a heartbeat. I have no tolerance for animal abuse or neglect, and I don't care who it is that did it. Granted you are also younger than I am, and would have to live there with him and deal with the repercussions, so I can understand you being hesitant doing something like that, but someone has to put their foot down with dad.

Is there ANYWAY you can go and try to find the cat?? Do you have a friend that drives? Can you get it through dad's thick skull that he needs to go back and take you there so you can find the cat, or at least try to find it?? Heck, ride a horse or a bike, or something there if you have to, but at least get there. Until you've exhausted all available options, there is still a chance for you to help this cat.

I have an uncle who lives in Grand Forks. He can't have a cat where he lives, but loves them.

Hmmm - I think he lived in a trailer court once upon a time!

I hardly ever talk to him...he has a few problems, but a good heart. I will call later and ask if he has a way to get there (no car), check around for No Name and get him to the HS.

However, if your local HS knows a person in Grand Forks WITH a car, that would be a lot easier.

I am at the office and can't call from here...I will try this afternoon (calling your local HS).

PLEASE call your aunt. I suspect she is in pretty good shape and doesn't need to go to a "home". If she is - she will be worried about her cat. Call her, please...let her make her own decision on this. Also...you can find out the cat's name.

Better that she lay charges than you - though you could go live with her, I suppose!

Ok, I live a little over 45 miles away from this town, and I have no way of getting there. My dad would be extremely angry with me if I tried to go and retrieve the cat. I'm living with my dad right now, and my twin sister, as my mom is living in Arizona now. I do NOT get along with my dad and I am having a hard time putting up with all this and I can't make it worse. Our local humane society doesn't go to grand forks, I checked, because Grand Forks has their own HS. Here is the website to our local HS.

TMB, this is a cross-post.

As I PM'd to you, I contacted the two likely trailer parks, and left messages for them to have anyone who found No Name to either take him to the Grand Forks HS, or to let them know if they are keeping him.

I suggested that you contact Circle of Friends by email again (the GF HS) and let them know the names of the two parks I contacted. That way htey have a heads up.

I was suggesting that maybe someone at the GF place had someone who might go check these parks...surely there is some animal officer there, even if they don't work AT the Humane Society.

I am surprised you and your sister are not in Arizona. Your dad may have "issues' - but is he getting any help for them?

There's lots of help available if he wants it - so never never make excuses for him (I'm not saying you do, just don't do it). I hope you have a counsellor - that can help you.

I don't know what more I can do for No Name...if you could get his real name from your aunt, then at least he might respond to it if someone in GF goes looking.

This is just unbelieveable! Sweet No-Name gets dumped for no apparent reason? My Dad was very hard to get along with so I understand what you must be dealing with.

Please don't feel that you have to apologize to us for something you didn't do and knew nothing about. We all know how much you love No-Name and you would never do anything to cause him any harm. What your father did was out of your control. Please do not take responsibility for what someone else did!

Being in New Jersey I don't know what I can do to help reunite you with No-Name. Please know that you and No-Name are very much in my prayers. I only want you to know that none of this is YOUR fault.

Okay. I emailed the Grand Forks Humane Society (Circle of Friends) this afternoon.

I copied and pasted the trailer park info, the two that are west of the college.

I asked if they might have a person who lives near there or who could go check in person.

I attached two pictures of No Name for them.

TMB - were you able to find out NN's real name? Can you ask your aunt if you haven't?

This is not to get No Name back to you, as your dad would not like it...the HS said they would find a good home for him if he was brought in...but if he knows his real name, then he would respond to it better.
