Just a thought: I watched an Animal Planet program on "Fat Pets" the other night, featuring Archie the 23-pound cat. Archie's humans were following the vet's instructions to get Archie to increase his physical activity... but Archie isn't always co-operative. His daddy said it was the hardest he'd worked since he went through firefighter training.

My own experience is that the best toys are those that stimulate the hunting instinct. Zerlina's second favorite toy is the "Cat Dancer", a bit of cardboard on the end of a springy wire. (Her favorite toy is any bug that gets in the house.) Don Juan goes more for things with feathers. And they both will go for things that aren't official toys, i.e. shoelaces, feather dusters.

Good luck, and good for you for caring for your cat!

My cats LOVE the Da Bird wand toy. They go crazy, esp. my fat kitties!

    Thank you so much Michelle!

Well, the best cat toy ever invented had a human at one end of it. I read that you bought a laser. I had one cat the bonkers over light beams and another that ignored such stuff.

One day I noticed that Spunky was getting more than pudgy around the middle and was approaching roundness. So I started the Kitty'Lympics. He's more active if I am using a wand toy or throwing rattley balls for him to chase or knock out of the air. It's good for me too.
