I'm a cat person, just visiting, and not up on all these dog things. What does it mean that a dog failed the hip test? And what happens to this dog now that you're not going to take her?Originally Posted by Flatcoatluver

This means she has hip dysplasia. Not sevure or anything, but her hips are not healthy enough to do competive agility. The owner will just keep looking for a good home for her, she is not in danger of going to a shelter now that I have gotten to know the owner, she loves her and is looking out for her well being. I would have tooken her if I was looking for a dog to come in to my home for just a pet, but since I was to trial she is just not the right dog for me.Originally Posted by Grace

Thanks for the info, and Good Luck with your new one.
Flatcoatluver, if the owner doesn't find a home for the dog with the problem hip - will she just stay with the owner for the rest of her life? Or, is there a good chance that someone will take her that does not plan to have her do agility competitions. Will she still be able to take walks and do regular, everyday activities?Originally Posted by Flatcoatluver

Yes she will be able to be a normal dog, do normal activitys. Agility is hard on the joints, and for a dog with HD it just doesn't mix well.

Today is the 11th. The 17th is a week from yesterday, so I think I can wait! Give Kota a big WELCOME hug for me!
