MSN always does that, MSN isn't really good messenger anymore, that's why i don't use it anymore, it always messes up my computer and freezes things up, it's not the computer or internet, its just the certain program. It will be good for some parts but it mostly never lets me on for about a month or two and so i just quit i will go on once in awhile because my mum wants to talk to our cousin in mexico, but i don't like to use it though. Ever since i got the newer version of MSN it starts acting, so maybe going to an older one can help your computer a bit because it will slow down many things.

There is also Trillian, which combines all your messengers into one. The only caution is that Yahoo smilies don't work in them - and I think they have the best!

It worked well for me when I used it.

According to the error message, there seem to be problems with the key ports. Maybe it was really the storm that did some damage somehere? I'd wait awhile and try again. And as long as the internet's still working, it can't be too bad! (for this is always the moment when I start panicking; when my online connection shuts down! LOL)
