When I was 18 and had just met Rick (who is now my hubby) I adopted a puppy from the humane society. She was about 3 months old and her name was Alaska and I changed it to Toby. She is a GSD/Lab, this past April 1st she turned 13, I'm telling you this because today I was told she has bone cancer and does not have much time left on earth.
When she was just 10 months old she was hit by a car and broke her leg, 2 years later she tore her ACL and had surgery to repair it. Ugh... not even 3 and she's already got 2 bum legs. Here we are 10 years later and she's still spry! Just last week she caught a rabbit!!
I moved out of the house when Toby was 5, she didn't take the move well, so my parents took her back and she was happy as ever to be back with them and I was happy for her.
My parents only live 15 mins away so I see her quite a bit.
Toby's entire leg started swelling Monday morning and my parents are leaving to go out of town Wednesday morning so my mom got her in to the vet asap.(she stays home, my uncle and grama live next door and take care of her when they are gone)
The vet said it's bone cancer and the tumor is the size of a fist and it on her hip bone and cutting circulation off to her leg, making it swell.
She said no to putting her to sleep right away because, she was in no pain at all. No wimpers out of her when it was touched, nothing. So we just have to wait and see how she does.
I scanned pictures of her (sorry for the cruddy quality)
CRAZY puppy!!!
OH Toby loves water!!! She'd stick her face in and blow bubbles!!
