Well, aren't they just the cutest little guys!! Gave me a smile just to see how cute they all are!

Q: Are they all from the same parents, being all different colors like that? Also, is the blood on the hen from the eggs when they hatch? I dont know enough about baby chicks yet, but still looking to know more!

They are all mixed breeds. They are from myown flock which consists of 3 roosters, and 13 hens, so it will be neat to see what they look like as they get older.
The blood is from the hen, she went out at one point while I was checking on the babies, and got into a scuffle with one of the other hens. But I cleaned her up, and put a medicated spray on her booboo.

But yes when chicks hatch occasionally there is some blood involved, but mostly that is from them trying to hatch too early.
    Maggie,

Poor mom. Hopefully she won't get into anymore scuffles. I know this may sound like a dumb question, but how does one know when a chick hatches early?

What type of chicken is the mother? Do you keep all your babies? What do you do when they get older? Are they shown? I'd like to show chickens one day, but that won't be for a long long time as I know nothing about them. I'd like to have my children involved in 4H. I think it would be fun.

you can easily tell, first off by how many days it has been incubated, chicks take 21 days to hatch. The other way to tell is the blood. a normal fully mature chick wont have any blood when it hatches.
What type of chicken is the mother?
The momma is a Delaware hen

Do you keep all your babies?
    Yes

What do you do when they get older?
    et eggs from them

    Are they shown?
No I dont show my birds, they arent Show Quality

Aw, they are so pretty and cute. i just love the color of the ones that are light yellowy and then they have a black stripe going out from the tip of their eyes. that is such a cool marking! It's so great to see that the chickens are doing well
