Do you have any exotics/aquarium stores near-by? Maybe try either printing the picture or bringing the fish in?
If not, even trying Petsmart/Petco and asking their aquatics associate?
I searched the cancer in bettas and nothing came up. Only for turtles and angelfish.

Thanks, I think I'll take him to a nearby aquarium store on Monday. I sure hope it's not cancer. I just remembered a few weeks ago when I was recovering from my surgery, my Mom told me his plant had become moldy at the top.. so I hope nothing fell in, or that it didn't affect him.Originally Posted by Kfamr

Well, its definately not mouth rot, but it could be anything from a blister to cancer. There's not much a retail person at a store can tell you. Try a local aquarium society.
