We are back from Raven's second recheck! Dr. Nielson always greets her as "Happy Raven". He concurs with my opinion that so far, it is looking good! He still cautioned we need to give a bit more time before we for sure say it is all gone and not coming back, but he feels very optimistic!
I mentioned the reddened/swelling I saw a few days ago that had worried me. He explained that post-surgery, especially in the mouth, it takes awhile for the blood supply to return to the area and then it looks really red like that for a bit. That is why in a way it came to look worse than her first couple days home. He said the next phase will be the dead tissues sloughing off, so it still may change in appearance for awhile yet.
Her next recheck is next Friday morning again. He always tells her he loves her before we leave. So that is where we are at!
