Sue,

What a perfect timing! I just got an e-mail from Joan Fremo. I just read it right now and she's asking some prayers for Persephone, one of the 3 great pyrs rescued from Arkansas...

Please include them in your prayers...

This is the content of Joan's e-mail...

Hello friends!
Persephone, one of the 3 dogs rescued from
Arkansas a few weeks ago, needs your prayers.
Please take a moment to say a prayer, to send
energy and good thoughts to her.

Persephone has been doing so well. She has
gained the most weight of the three dogs, she is
no longer naked--her skin has softened from the
black leather, and she is covered in short fur.
She is happy, and friendly, bouncing and
playful--until yesterday...

Yesterday when I woke up she seemed reserved,
relutant to go out side, had no appetite. Her
temp was elavated, she acts like her hind section
is bothering her, back legs wobbly, and she sits
after a few steps. Her normal animated attitude
has evaporated.

We called the vet, and were in the office waiting
for them. She has had blood tests, and x-rays,
long acting antibiotics--but we don't yet know
what is happening.

I elected to bring her home, as there is no staff
during the night at the vet's office. At least
here I could hold her, coax her to drink, keep my
hands on her. It is 6am now, and I have had no
sleep. I take her back this morning, 7:30 am, for
a Barrium enema--see if there is anything the
x-ray missed.

I am very frightened for Persephone. She has come
such a long way, she has had such a struggle, she
was doing so well... PLEASE, hold her in your
hearts and prayers.

I have been so careful. I have a seriously ill
boy in quarantine here. I strip off my clothes,
stuff them in plastic, wash with a bleach
solution, redress, and spray my self down with
disinfectant before going from him to any of the
others. (Done more laundry this week then in the
last 6 months) I knew my AR babes, no matter how
well they were doing, would have compromized
immune systems. This seems unrelated.

She is being treated by Spring Oaks Animal
Hospital, 2489 South Woodland Boulevard, Deland,
FL 32720 PH386) 736-6747

Please say a prayer...
Joan
