Ally looks MAHVELOUS! Jen, you are just too wonderful to help like this.

Julie, I am SO sorry that all this tragedy has happened this spring. I had no idea about the job situation. Prayer (lots of them!) coming your way!

I don't know if kitties "speak" a different language depending upon their country, but Ally doesn't meow very much at all. But Connor just meowed loud enough for everyone (including my neighbors) to hear him. Just in case we don't speak "cat" he wants to make sure we can hear him.

Ally looks like she made herself right at home there Jenn. After a couple of days it will be like she was always there.

She doesn't meow very much at all, but she makes these little "mrech mrech" sounds, it's really cute. My one other cat, Boris does the same thing. It sounds like she's scolding someone, lol.

I tried a few Arabic words on her, but she didn't seem to understand them, so I just shrugged and went back to english.

Ya know, I keep looking at the pics thinking I really really have to clean those bookshelves!! I'm annoyed with myself now, lol. I spend so much time vacuuming, i never get around to cleaning the bookshelves top to bottom, and the cats are all over them. Guess that's this weekend's project!

It's wonderful to see sweet Ally!!! She looks great, and I wonder what's going on in her head after her long journey. She'll probably never know that you saved her life. Thank you so much for fostering her!!!

    Did Ally break the statue?

Oh gosh no! That came broken right from Egypt. My last ex boyfriend was originally from Egypt and he brought a bunch of things back for my library, and customs was not too nice with them.

I have to say Ally has the smallest, daintiest paws I've ever seen. She is built so thin and feminine. Her coat is very short, very sleek, and the shape of her head is a little different than your typical American domestic. I was studying her last night and comparing the long haired kitty and the tuxie with her features.

A long time ago (shortly after I joined PT) Julie wrote about the breed of cat that Ally is. Unfortunately I don't remember the name (old age you know ), but it was something specific to the Middle East. Once she gets back on her feet maybe she can tell us again.

I think Ally is a Dilmun. This is a link to her Cat of the Day page.

Ally is a Dilmun- and what a lovely one. Of course she is a descendant of the Egyptian cat goddess Bastet

Oh, Miss Ally. Such a regal Dilmun cat you are. I didn't know you were a Cat of the Day!

Praying for peace in the Middle East, Ukraine, and around the world.

I've been Boo'd ... right off the stage!

Aaahh, I have been defrosted! Thank you, Bonny and Asiel!

    She's beautiful!
Not to deny her breed, she look like my mom's farm cat Daisy. Daisy's long and sleek too and very much the lady...til it comes to bed time and she wanders off to find her favorite cow to sleep on, lol.

    Dilmun Cat Info...

    Found this online...

    Bahraini Dilmun Cat

Bahrain is a small island just off the east coast of Saudi Arabia in the Arabian Gulf.

The local cats of Bahrain have a very distinctive 'look' about them - they are slender, elegant, street smart spotted tabbies. These spotted tabbies have beautiful short hair coats that are extremely sleek, I compare their coats to the feel of a beautiful silk Persian carpet.

The spotted Bahraini cats occur in all different colors from dark brown, bronze, cinnamon, lilac, ginger, silver, etc. and the cats occur in solid colors also. Recently the typical Bahraini cat has been called the 'Dilmun Cat' after the name of ancient Bahrain.

These cats have managed to adapt to the harsh climatic conditions of Bahrain. Due to the extreme summer temperatures in Bahrain the cats have large ears and short fur. In the summer they sleep all day and come out in the evening, and in the cooler months they are more active at day time.

Generally these lovely cats are not much appreciated in their home land. Most of the cats in Bahrain live as street wise cats in areas where there is a sufficient supply of food and enough shelter (fortunately for the cats people throw out a lot of food in Bahrain!). Apart from their good looks, the cats of Bahrain are particularly endearing creatures because of their great personalities. Even people that normally don't like cats end up with a soft spot for the cats of Bahrain.

The cats of Bahrain are very adaptable creatures, and that has been the key to their survival. Unfortunately, nowadays there is so much development going on in Bahrain with shopping malls and high rise offices popping up, that the traditional home areas of the cats are being demolished. The next test of their survival is to see how they will survive in the modern towns and cities of Bahrain.
