When a HPT says positive, it IS positive. When a HPT is negative, there is still a chance that it might be positive. The reason that a positive can't be a negative is because it picks up on a hormone that is released (called HCG) when the egg is implanted! So when it reads positive, it means there is HCG present, which means you have a baby in the making.
