Yeah, that whole bunk about Poodles being extremely rare in Japan (which therefore explains why nobody knew what an actual Poodle looked like) is pretty ridiculous. Japanese toy poodle breeders have turned out some of the finest specimens in the ring.

The Sun is not what you would call "a reliable source". It is a newspaper in name only. There used to be an excellent story, probably apocryphal, about a man who signed divorce papers then subsequently contested the divorce. In court his lawyer attempted to argue that because he couldn't read, he didn't know what he was signing. When questioned, his wife exclaimed, "What do you mean he can't read?
