I'm drinking my hot chocolate as I type! I love working here. I fly in (yes, we have airports) and work for 2 weeks. Then I fly home to Anchorage for 2 weeks and snuggle kittys. The flight is 1.5 hours from Anchorage. Only the truckers (who haul our groceries and supplies) drive the Dalton Highway (we call it the Haul Road). I think one of them said it was a 2 day drive.Originally Posted by lvpets2002
But no, you can't leave when you want. Think of it like being in the military and you're sent overseas. You stay until your "hitch" is up. My hitch is 2 weeks. We have several flights a day (except Saturday) so if there is an emergency, we can fly people out. Like today, a guy is getting flown to Anchorage because he got some rusty metal shavings in his eye. We have doctors here, but they didn't feel comfortable removing the object themselves. So, this poor guy will spend Easter in a hospital in Anchorage.
Ask your vet about microchipping. ~ It could have saved Kuhio's life.
