Whisk_luva, you are starting to remind me of an old cartoon featuring a wailing child clutching a history exam paper. Her mother was saying to her father, "It really wasn't fair. They asked her about things that happened before she was born!"

Well, she does have a point. I mean...why do we even have to learn about history???

Well, she does have a point. I mean...why do we even have to learn about history???
Because studying history provides a foundation for critical thinking if taught properly.

The important events in history shouldn't be taught as trivia (On July 4th 1776 the Continental Congress of the American Colonies declared independence from the British Empire), but rather that after years of mismanagement and overtaxation brought on by strained British finances due to various colonial wars, the American colonies declared their independence.

The dates doesn't really matter, except as Trivia. The WHY is what matters.

    (Speaking of Trivia, I scored a 27)
