Did you think a phone call from such a big company was suspicious? Most large companies communicate by mail.

I definitely should have thought of that. But the "From" readout on my phone read "Comcast," so it didn't even occur to me that they might have hacked it somehow. Anyway, I told the police and the newspaper.

That's pretty scarey, I'm glad you posted about it. A reminder to all of us, people are not always who they seem to be.

Yep. Glad they didn't "get" you (and your little dog too). Always make sure you call the company back yourself. Whenever they call, you tell them you'll call them back. That way you know you've called their number and are talking to somebody in their building. And if anybody shows up at the door don't open it unless you've been informed that a rep is coming.
