What about Shinook, the RCMP's dog. I watched some old back and white movies of that last year.

Didn't Little Orphan Annie have a dog in her comic strip? I don't remember the dog's name, though.

What a fun thread!

Annie's dog was named Sandy.

How about many of the collies in the Albert Payson Terhune books:

Lad
Wolf
Bruce
Treve
Lady
Chip
Gray Dawn
Lochenver Luck

They were all my childhood friends and why I'm a professional dog trainer today. His books profoundly affected my life.

Thought of one more (may have been mentioned...I haven't read all the replies):

Spuds McKenzie - the Budweizer dog. I "interviewed" Spuds once in a limo after a parade. Well, actually he didn't say much, but the "Spudettes" did some talking. That was back in my reporter days right out of college.

Fred the Dachshund in Lithium Springs

Lithium Springs Starring Fred the Dachshund. Many of you probably have NOT heard of him as this is a newly released independant film that has won many awards as a GREAT FAMILY MOVIE and Fred the Dachshund is clearly the Star!

Lithium Springs
The Dove Foundation calls the film "laugh out loud funny" and the well-known Christian reviewer Ted Baehr of Movieguide calls it an "amusing, campy, whimsical, heartfelt movie" that is "especially fun for young children."

Lithium Springs, an independent film photographed in the woods, swamps, rivers and underwater caves of central Florida is a family friendly, comedy-adventure indie film that tells the story of a treasure hunter and his dachshund in their search for the lost treasure of Ponce de Leon and the Fountain of Youth.

Filmed in Hardee County, Hillsborough County, Polk County, Manatee County and also at Ginny Springs near Gainesville and the Devil's Den near Williston, Florida, this clean, wholesome but hilarious independent film is Florida folklore storytelling at its finest. Not to be confused with the real-life spring at Lithia Springs near Tampa, Lithium Springs' true location is not identified by the filmmakers.

Lithium Springs has a strong environmental theme. Using nature, wildlife, magic woods creatures (including a woods nymph introduced initially in a difficult yoga inversion), the Florida outdoors and the spiritual nature of Mother Earth herself, Fred the dachshund ultimately demands that the environment and ecology of Florida come before monetary gain. Kids, parents, grandparents - in fact the entire family - will enjoy clean water winning out over litterbugs and environmental destruction.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Lithium Springs Movie Reviews*
Glory to God television's Joe Pope says "It gets to your heart. It could be played on anybody's station, regular TV broadcast of Christian broadcast. The whole family can watch it."

The Dove Foundation calls the film "laugh out loud funny"
The well-known Christian reviewer Ted Baehr of Movieguide calls it "an amusing, campy, whimsical, heartfelt movie" that is "especially fun for young children."

Joe Pope of the Gospel News in Alabama appreciates the diversity strength of the film and says "Encouraging fathers interested in canoeing and the woods will enjoy sharing this with their kids. Plus you have black and white people today in everyday situations. This is healthy and natural, it makes for strong family viewing."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a movie for canoe and kayak adventurers, kids, parents, grandparents, environmentalists, ecologists, Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, yoga practitioners, pet lovers, dachshund lovers, outdoor people and people who love the history, folklore and backwoods of Florida. Share this beautiful film with your family and friends. You'll be glad you did.

If you LOVE Action and know a Dachshund can be a STAR, Watch Fred as he knows he is!
This film is getting rave reviews from audiences all across the United States and everyone agrees that
Fred the Dachshund is clearly the star. Come watch Fred make other stars wish they had tails!
