Actually I was right there in the room with her, but I was busy grooming a dog (have to actually do some work while I'm at work), she had it off and chewed it up in a matter of minutes.

Well, Keva got herself a new "cone." I think this picture does a nice job telling how she feels about it.
This one too
Ok this is just gross, and too much info, I know, but this is why she now is sporting the world's largest lampshade on her head: I noticed the night I brought her home that her private area was red, but they had shaved there so I figured it was just some irritation from the shaving. I don't know why they would need to shave as much fur as they didbut I've never had a dog spayed (Syd was spayed before she came here) so I didn't know if that was normal or what. That was actually what she has been licking, she's been good about leaving the stitches alone. Well this morning it was even more red and oozing pus so she had to go back to the vet. Turns out the shaving irritated her so much that it caused an infection. Luckily the vet admitted it was their mistake so they didn't charge anything for the exam, pills, or the new e-collar. The e-collars I had were not big enough to stop her from licking there, hense, the absolutely ugly gigantic cone she now has to wear.
"Mom what is this weird creature you brought home?"
"Ha, no escaping now little fox!" (hasn't stopped her from wanting to play one bit)
Poor pup
There's a pic attached of the shave, just curious if anyone else's dogs were shaved that much when spayed.
OOOOHHHH
MMMMMYYYYY!!!!!
That isn't an e-collar that's a SATELLITE DISH!!!!
I think my eyes did this
pooooooorrrr sweet Keva
give her a hug from me ok Amy -
and
Thinking back - Keegan just had a little bit of a shave- like a strip. That's a big shave - did they have a new vet tech do it that didn't know better? I'm happily surprised they realized it was their own mistake. After Keegan's spay she was too be kept quiet - yyeeeeaa right. She was like on friggin' crack. She had gotten sick in her crate and I had to give her a bath - she STUNK!!! I thought she had herniated her stitches (my aunt's dog did) but it was just the scar tissue made it really lumpy there. I took her back and they checked her out and didn't charge me either. I was afraid she'd have a lump there but its absorbed and not lumpy - she's just lumpy all over other places now. (
HOPEFULLY just fatty growths)

Awwww that is quite an e-collar. Tasha was a little hellion about her stitches too. In fact I got her a "normal" e-collar and she managed to somehow maneuver and get it partly torn up and was able to get at some of her stitches. She had to go back in for "repair" and then had to wear a huge e-collar too. I'm glad to hear her white count was back to normal and that the leg problem was nothing bad.
When Raven was younger one time she leaped up the deck stairs and misjudged and smacked her back leg on the step. She shrieked and held her leg up and cried for awhile, really freaked me out. I guess puppies like to do that to us![]()

I think that Cone's just a "tad bit" "generous" ...
As for the Razor Burn ... did they give you any lotion or salve to put on the
irritated area? You'd want to stay away from the Zipper - but something
soothing on the inflamed area may make her feel a bit better.
Hope she doesn't break her neck running into things ... poor ole Boots, da Kat,
had a *ruff* time getting around corners ... he NEVER allowed enough
room for the Cone ... he made a LOT of "sudden stops" with his Cone!![]()

Aw, poor Keva! Don't worry... that evil cone will be off soon!
They shaved Molly that much, and more. I'm afraid they shaved too much, because her coat is growing back SOOOO slowly and it's all wiry and greasy to the touch, and not smooth and silky like the rest.Originally Posted by wolf_Q

I'm glad Keva did well, even if she does have to wear the e-collar.
As far as the shaving goes, my Vet didn't shave Tango nearly that much. They only did her stomach area. I've never seen a shave like Keva's.
