I used to have several female bettas, but they never bothered each other. I had about five or six of them in a 55 gallon tank, though, with lots of other fish.

Wow! I bet that tank was really pretty looking. You could fit quite a lot of tropical fish in a 55 gallonOriginally Posted by Twisterdog
And I thought I would inform everyone that Ariel is still hanging in there. It's very sad because I know she is going to die, her gills are red and look like they are bleeding, and a sore on her back is almost eating away at her skin..I can't believe what a fish can do to another fish...poor little girl. I really hope she passes soon, because I hate seeing her in pain.
Ursela loves living in a tank on her own though lol, she must be a mean anti-social fishy.
What did your sister name her betta???
Poor Ariel.
Some females are just aggressive.
I would never put my girl Coral in a tank with other fish.Coral is very aggressive and flares at Liberty. My other girl Tugboat(Rest in Peace)was very easy going and didn't care about seeing my boys.

I don't think I can spell it right, but she named it Dirkts, it's the name of one of her favorite bands lead singer I think. Definately a unique name for a betta. she would have pictures up by now but our family is over from far away so she is quite busy with them...of course I'm just a PT addict so nothing can keep me off the internet for at least 1 hour or 2 a dayOriginally Posted by Zippy

Have you considered euthanasia for the injured girl? If you don't think she's going to make it, clove oil is a painless death. You buy it at the pharmacy for like $2 and its used as an anesthetic for fish, but an overdose will put them quietly to sleep.

Really? I didn't know that, I have never had to euthanize a fish before, but in her case I really should. Thanks for telling me about the clove oil. I will buy some tomorrow and use it. I will put her in a little seperate tank (its just a small hexagon thing that isn't even a gallon full and do it. How much clove oil should I put in it since its so small? would you recommend a teaspoon? or Tablespoon?Originally Posted by IRescue452
Here's a desent description of clove oil used with alcohol http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-...ize-a-fish.htm
They use a very little amount of the oil, I use a bit more. When you have a fish that's in as bad a shape as yours, you usually don't need the alcohol, the fish will probably never wake up. Being that its a labyrinth fish is just another assurance that it won't wake up. Sorry if its a bit overwhelming of a subject.

It's okay, I am just happy that I know now how to put her out of her suffering, I feel bad just looking at her,so I'm glad I can do this for her. And thanks muchly for the website, I'll update you later to let you know that she passed on peacefully.Originally Posted by IRescue452
