Congratulations on the new camera Kay! I knew you'd be getting an SLR soon. Looking forward to more pictures!

The lens can really make the difference so always get the best lens you can afford. Of course this is quite an expensive hobby . I have a canon 28-135mm lens with image stabilizer. It's a good general lens for wide angle or zoom. I'll be sticking with that lens til I feel I have learned enough about photograpy to spend more. It does work good with action shots on the sports setting. I'm still trying to master the manual settings even after a photography class at a local school.

That's cool, Kay! Congrats on the new camera!

I have the Digital Rebel XTi as well, and would be curious to get/share pointers with others who have these cameras. I know they have quite the potential to shoot some wicked cool shots, so I'd really like to learn more about the manual settings. I've really only played with the pre-set functions so far. I'm just using the lens it came with, but would like to eventually get another lends or two. What would be a good investment moving forward in terms of what lenses to buy for these cameras?
