Like if cherry pits are bad, could they still eat the part that we eat? Here's the link to the list...
While in Traverse City, which is popular for it's cherries, there were many dog treats sold made from cherries. I can't recall exactly, but I believe the packaging said that cherries have been known to help dogs with arthritis.

I think you are right though in saying that it's the cherry pit that's toxic...not the cherry fruit itself.

Kind of like how apple seeds are toxic however, my dogs get plenty of treats made from apples.

The list is quite extensive and extreme and some are a no brainer, like the 'Food Preparation Items', honestly...who would feed their dog plastic forks or aluminum foil on purpose!?

However, I think it really depends on the dogs overall health and size.

Kia once ate an entire bag of hershey kisses...foil and all. All it gave her was diarreha and shiney poop for about a week. Now, had it been a Chihuahua that did that, you'd probably be looking at a very sick if not dead dog.

Kia has had mushrooms and broccoli in small amounts on occasion with no reprecussions. But I wouldn't feed it to her all day every day.

Plus the list name is a bit of a misnomer. It says FOODS that are bad for dogs but lists Anti-freeze and household cleaners? Since when are those food?

Yeah, the name should be more like what not to let your dog eat...

and, as for the food preparation items, i think that was just a reminder to be careful of things laying around or in the trash or whatever. not necessarily something someone would hand their dog.

the list is really extreme, though.

I think as far as the fruits go, like apples, pears, peaches, cherries, ect. that are listed, that you should be fine giving those to your dogs. I do and have had no problems. I just avoid giving them the core or seeds.

They said RAW eggs but lots of people feed their dogs raw eggs and they are good for them.
