I am so sorry to hear about the pup. Prayers that he will pull through!

Parvo can live on the ground and in a home up to 6 months, Bleach is a highly efficient killer of Parvo, however I am allergic to it so I have fo many years used a product called Kenic Parvo-lan128. You can order it thorough Jeffers Pet. 1-800-jefferspet.

Wash everywhere that the pup has been, including bedding, comforters and crates, i actually have for years added the parvo lan to my rug shampooer and used it for my carpets and upholstery. I had Parve in our home in the mid 80s and have been blessed of never having it since.

Years ago the shots were made from live Parvovirus and it was bantered that it may have caused it in some animals, as far as I know all the new shots are from killed vaccines, and should not have caused it. I do want to caution you that just because they are vaccinated doesn't mean they will never get it. It means they have an immunity to it, they can still aquire the disease(like getting a flu shot doesnt mean you WONT get the flu).

Parvo is 80% treatable if caught quickly and treated, it is unfortuantely 80% fatal if not treated.

I hope this has helped answer some of your questions. Our thoughts are with your son and his pup.
