My stepson locked himself ina car when he was 18 months old! Hubby was freaked out! he had to call AAA, cause Zak just refused to unlock the doors, he was having way too much fun!

I think I have sprouted at least a dozen new gray hairs!!!
I am so upset because I ALWAYS bring a set of keys out with me but for some reason I didn't today. I may laugh about this later but right now I am SO upset.
When I was pregnant with Tyler I had a dream that CPS came and took him away. Since then I have had an irrational fear of ANYTHING that could be misinterpreted as negligent behavior.
How could I be so stupid? I am so mad at myself

Im so sorry hunny, I meant no disrespect.
Please try to relax and enjoy your son, from your posts and from what others have said about you, It is very obvious you are a great mom!
One mishap that happens to thousands of moms daily won't bring the wrath of CPS upon your steps. Believe me. I am sorry if my post was misinterpreted, i had no idea you were so frightened, I guess after 22 foster kids 5 steps and 3 kids of my own I am bit more seasoned and find the humor in the things that kids do, especially with a mom that is quick thinking enough to climb in a window. I am glad you are both fine.
I am sincerely sorry if I caused you more stress.

No no no! I'm not upset at you at all!!! I'm upset at the situation but not at you or anyone else who responded!!
It just takes a little while for the adrenaline to wear off... Not to mention the fact that I am pregnant so I'm 1000 times more emotional then I normally would be.

This is why they make those little magnetic key holders, hidey rocks, and such.

My garage also has the code panel to get it open. The one time I was locked out . . . the battery had died, so that didn't work either. We now have . . . something worked out, as I routinely lock myself out, much to Dad's frustration.

Tyler couldn't, or wouldn't, open the door for you, huh? You've got some fun times ahead with that little guy!

Just remember, he is OK, you found a solution so you are capable as a mom, and everything is going to be fine!
