There is a really great book out there called teach yourself to knit in a day, I will find it on Joannes site, super easy I am told and very easy to follow!
I learned the hard way! by watching my great aunts needles fly, one took pity on me and taught me how when i was around 12. learned to crochet in the Girl Scouts
