What on earth is going on?????
At least 6 teams have been fined for cheating. One of them is Gordon's team. His car was an inch too close to the ground.
Another is Waltrips. I can't remember the rest. Sheese!!!!![]()

I'm not sure how I feel about it. Things are are listed as against the rules should be penalized, but I think teams are always looking for an extra advantage, and if they went over every car in the field with a fine tooth comb, there would be some things found that maybe weren't specifically against the ruels, but maybe weren't exactly listed as being legal either.
I do know Tony is on a roll... Go 20!!!
Here's where I have a problem with NASCAR and their penalties.
Mark Martin had a problam 2 years ago with his car in a post race inspection. The coil length on one of the springs on his car was 1/8" too short. Not 1/8" in height, but if you straightened out the spring, the length of the straightened spring was 1/8" under spec. Absolutely NO competetive advantage whatsoever, and MIGHT have saved 1/2 ounce or so of weight.
They fined him 25 drivers points, and fined Roush $25,000.
The holes in the bolts that they fined Evernham motorsports for gave no competetive advantage, but they fined Evernham Motorsports, suspended crewchiefs, and took points. They didn't find these holes in PRE race inspection why?
The same goes for Kenseth's car. They didn't find the holes in the body work during PRE qual tech inspection?
If they passed pre qual tech, why weren't the Pre-qual tech inspectors fined?
Gordon's car, from what I've heard, wasn't an inch low overall, it was an inch low in one measurement are because a shock was improperly installed. A shock that NASCAR WATCHED the team install, as NASCAR issues and seals the shocks used on the car before qualifying.
NASCAR needs to get their act together, and stop re-writing the rule book on the fly. They also need to get their inspection process down so teams aren't getting fined by one inspector for something another inspector passed.
