I was viewing it at the same time - whoever it was took us on quite a ride didn't they? It really was making my stomach turn too so I had to switch it off.

When I was on before 7 this morning the camera was pointing straight down and making a 360 deg. turn and back again.

Now, I'm enjoying the most beautiful animals...too far away to tell, could be deer or giselle. They are running and jumping so high. Man, I would love to be there.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

Missed the camera aka rollercoaster this morning, but was able to see some gizelle grazing. I haven't yet seen my giraffe! But I keep hoping!

Right now there is no animal activity, but lots of birds. There is one that almost sounds like an echo! Just listening to the birds and crickets is so soothing!

    Just bumping this back up.

I haven't seen any animals except birds so far, so I'll be really excited when I see my first animal! I hear lots of birds in the background though.

Water buffalo at the watering hole at 3am their time. There were three of them and one went for a long soak in the water. He had a hard time getting out, thrashing and grunting, getting part way out and sliding back in again. They made a great deal of noise, snorting at each other, drinking and splashing. I couldn't post here while it was happening because I could only tear myself away long enough to check on the Africam forum - that's where I learned they were Cape Buffalo. I kept thinking that's what they looked like, but it's very hard to see details of animals at night and I didn't know they moved around at night.

The Africam forum is wonderful with many knowledgeable people. They post the names of all the birds calling, and the animal sounds when you can't see them.

I missed that - what a shame work keeps me away from things I love!

I found I had to turn the sound down or off because after a while I had ringing in my ears from the insect and bird sounds. I was "hearing" it long after I had shut down the computer.

Their forum is filled with information. I haven't joined but they do share a huge wealth of knowledge which is so helpful in enjoying and understanding everything that you are seeing.

I keep the sound turned down very low also but I'm also aware from reading the posts on the forum that I'm missing a number of animal calls. Of course, the buffalo made so much noise I had to turn it down! They mentioned that they hadn't seen buffalo since Christmas Eve so I'm thrilled that I checked in just at the right time. There was a hyena also - which I thought was an animal similar to a large weasel. The way it ran forward with it's belly low, it's long body, and the whiteness of it's fur didn't indicate hyena to me.

It was really frustrating. By the time I checked into the forum that they really were lions, zoomed in here to sound the alert, they had finished drinking (two lionesses) and were walking away. Because the cam operator is away, we kept hearing their noises but could only see the empty watering hole. Now we are wondering if these were the lions that tried to take down the mother giraffe that we saw injured a few days ago.

Edited to add: Here is the link to the video of the lions:

And here are the three Cape Buffalo taking a drink & bath at 3am:

And the buffalo that didn't want to come out of the water (I thought he could't get out, he walllowed around bellowing for so long:
