We actually have an english bulldog puppy and an english bulldog/pit bull mix adult in my shelter right now. We were all shocked to see them there. Good luck with the search!

I don't think one can fairly judge a breeder based on a website alone, so here are some of the more concrete questions you can ask the breeder:
- Do you OFA/PennHip the dogs' hips and elbows? If s/he does not OFA *every* breeding dog, move on to the next breeder.
- Do you test the dogs' eyes through CERF and/or OptiGen? Again, every breeding dog should have these tests regularly and keep them updated.
- Have you any history of diseases in the dogs? I can't think of any Bulldog specific diseases off the top of my head, but with a little research you should be able to pinpoint major diseases.
- Do you show or work your dogs? However, remember that the number of champions does not necessarily mean quality. You just want some proof that this breeder isn't breeding *just* for pets.
