With antibiotics the dog is usually back to normal in 36-48 hrs. Where normal is defined as appetite and energy levels restored with no sign of the recent illness. Without antibiotics and assuming the dog is not a puppy or geriatric then 1-2 weeks to fully recover. Pneumonia can be a complication in young puppies or in very old dogs if not treated with antibiotics.

Incubation time is 2-14 days. There is an extremely high probability any dog in a contaminated environment unvaccinated is likely to come down with it as its extremely contagious.

Vaccinating before clinical signs appear, may help a little to shorten the illness- assuming it takes a week thereafter for clinical symptoms to develop. Once clinical signs are present, vaccination will have no effect on the duration of the illness.

Awww Sara I'm sorry to hear the birthday boy has kennel cough. That's no way to celebrate a birthday at all I hope he starts feeling better soon and is able to get out and play with everyone else.

Lots of healing vibes headed his way.

Aww poor baby.. Maybe you could give all the dogs a little vitamin C to help ward this off from spreading. ..
