You may want to consider a car safety harness like this one:

for either or both dogs. It clips right into the seat belt buckle so there is no threading. Easy to use and move from one car to the other.

I got one for sugar but, ashames to say, haven't taken it out of the box yet. She just sits on the seat with her blankie.

Thanks for the link, but there is a REALLY nice one (same idea) thats made out of seatbelt materal that I'm going to buy. It costs a lot more but its much stronger & thicker/wider.

I also might buy a steal kennel (for the van only), have it welded solid (so it doesn't rattle & drive me nuts). Add a thicker frame, & a thicker bottom to it, that has clamps that attach to the things where the van's seats attach to in the floor.

Nifty idea eh?
