Hello Keri, and welcome to PT! We need more folks from The Ocean State on here, yeah!

Pet Talk is LOTS of fun, lots of photos, lots of good info sharing as well. Sometimes it can seem addicive! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

    Thanks for the warm welcome

    Hi Freedom,BC mom,and Dr goodnow
IT was a shot in the dark finding this group and to find someone from my state is rather funny.Didnt expect to find anyone from here....Being the web itd normally be easier to find someone in R.I. seeing its so small...let alot the internet.
I found this by accident actually in concern for my younger lab.The crazy thing along with older lab Chip were neutered Friday and the Chip is doing great Gunner on the other hand decided to figure out how to get around his E collar and remove 2 stitches and made his "boys" red along with getting infected and having a 104 degree temp Then i had to bring him back to vet and they had to tranquilize him and put 2 staples in...Now his "boys" seem rather red color change isnt much.... I just wondered if thats normal...or just normal for a mischeivous puppy
Seems the only way i can keep this puppy chilled out and distracting him from this issue is by letting him watch animal planet (E-VETS yes thats right my pup loves watching tvspecially when its dogs and cats)or giving him a rawhide bone which i watch him like a hawk with...HELP!!
    I am concerned

Have you tried a longer E collar?
They can remove their stitches- hopefully it will hold this time.. I know this sounds stupid but it worked for me once- I took gauze and wrapped- get this- one back foot.. lol.. The dog would spend time trying to get the gauze off- and of course leave the rest alone.
Seriously though- sometimes the E collar is not long enough to prevent them from getting at the stiches. The dog should be able to drink, but the sides should be longer..

I had to use duck tape on Lou Lou's e-collar so it would stay on. She loves to lick her feet. Good luck and I hope your boy starts to feel better soon.

    Welcome!
    You have VERY handsome labs!
I hope Gunnen leaves his staples alone! Sounds like you're doing a good job of trying to keep his mind off of them. I hope he's feeling better soon!
