Not sure if this is what you mean, but our dogs were taught the "wait" command. Otherwise we'd have had a doggie traffic jam as they all scrambled to get to the vehicle and into their crates for a day in the field.
Before allowing them to load, we would give them the group "wait" command and then release them one at time by using their name and the command to load up. If any of them were going to be left home that day; they were put outside until the others were loaded. (I couldn't bear seeing their looks of dissapointment when they discovered they couldn't go)![]()
The wait command also came in handy under many other circumstances and should work for calling just one dog.
If we were all just relaxing around the house and I wanted just one dog to come to me, I'd oten wait and catch their eye when the others weren't looking and use a hand signal instead of a voice command. Sneaky, but it worked!![]()
The nail clippers is still the best deterrent!![]()
