The thing is, she is COMPLETELY irreputable, in like every possible way. At least some of the designer mix breeders sell on spay/neuter contracts, and give some kind of health guarentee. This lady says she's selling "pets"... so, why is she offering breeding pairs and never spaying or neutering even adults that she's selling?

I don't think it makes a big difference whether or not PT checks out the website. Those are very, very few numbers compared to the probably thousands of people who have her puppies. And, at least people are trying. I definitely feel it's better to speak up, as trivial as it is talking to such an idiot, than to just sit quietly and say there's nothing that can be done.

Honestly, getting a bunch of concerned e-mails at least makes her feel a little more guilty, and puts her in check, even a little bit. It sounds like she lives in complete ignorance, in a land of butterflies & sunshine & lollipops & cute fuzzy (unhealthy, poorly socialized, money-making) puppies.

I really don't know anything about dogs or dog breeds but I have a story to tell you.

Recently my brother and SIL decided that they'd like to get a puppy. My SIL and her sister researched different breeds and decided that a Puggle would be perfect. I had never heard of them before so I looked them up on the internet and I saw a few breeders that were in the San Diego area where they live. I thought that at least they'd be able to go over and visit the breeder and see the living conditions of the dogs and also meet the parents.

It turns out that the local breeder has the puppies flown in from some other state. I told my mom that this didn't sound very good and that my SIL should just go visit her local shelter and adopt a puppy or small dog from there. Well she really wanted a Puggle and made a deposit to the breeder. They had about 15 puppies that would be ready for homes shortly before Christmas. She really wanted a female and was able to get the last one.

The puppy arrived on Dec.22nd. I've never met the puppy which they named Molly but I saw a few pictures of her and she's adorable. My mom said that she's very sweet and playful. A few days later she was coughing so they took her the vet and found out that she had kennel cough. She was put on antibiotics but a few days before New Year's day she became worse.

They took her to the vet again and her lungs were full of fluid and there was a shadow around her heart. She also had a very high fever and the vet didn't think that she'd make it through the night. She was given some very strong antibiotics and my SIL put her in a steamy bathroom and stayed with her during the night. She luckily made it through the night.

My brother called the breeder and told him what was going on and that he should call all of the other people and let them know that the puppies that they adopted might get very sick. The breeder hung up on him. Luckily my brother was able to stop the payment on the check that he had given the breeder. He knows he'll never hear from him again.

The vet said that the Molly probably came from a puppymill or a back yard breeder but by this point they were in love with her and didn't care. They just wanted to get her healthy again. I think that Molly is recovering and doing well now but I haven't heard anything to confirm this. They learned the hard way and hopefully Molly will continue to be a happy and healthy little girl.

I really wish that this breeder could be put out of business and forced to shut down. It makes me so mad and sad at the same time. He only cares about making money and not about the health of his dogs and puppies. Thanks for reading my story and letting me vent.

That website really makes me ill. I wonder how many dogs she has...way too many, as she should have none. I hate all the stupid "designer dog" names they come up with too. Copica? Shakopee? It sounds like the dogs are bred every heat pretty much.

Another unfortunate thing is that these "breeders" are always advertising the low or non-shedding because the dog is part poodle, but they always fail to mention the grooming requirements. I can't count how many people have come into our shop with some sort of pom-poo, labradoodle, or whatever and they don't have a clue that their dog will need regular haircuts. Non-shedding does not mean low-maintenence.

As long as there are people who buy these animals, they will remain in business. If everyone here emails them, at least they will know that there is a strong opposition to what they are doing. They can't possibly have enough people to take proper care of all of these animals. Greedy people really P_SS me off!

For every person who goes and visits the site, and emails them (which they won't care about anyway, and it won't "show" them anything that will ever matter), you are bumping them up the search engine. Therefore, everyone who does a search for "puppies" etc, will be more and more likely to find THIS breeder and give them money, which will only make the problem worse. By visiting the site you are actually helping them.....might want to think about that and stop visiting the site. Your emails won't help the dogs, but by going there you are helping promote their site and giving them more and more hits.
