opps- another door bites the dust.. lol.
As far as muddy paws, when he settles in, trim the hair on the bottom of the paws. That will really reduce how much he brings in from the outside. Also cheap bathroom rugs- the thick pile kind- are excellent to clean big feet. I have then at the entry door they do in and out of..
It may also take a few days before he stops looking for his owner. Saints are known for being very loyal, and it may take a while for him to get over this. Removing also any blankets etc the other owner gave will help. As long as he smells these, he may continue to look for his old owner.

Actually today when i was trimming his nails, i did trim the fur of the bottoms of his feet, ithas helped alot. I remebered that from my Dog groomer, which rocky will be visiting very soon!

I love Rocky! I met a big St. like him recently at our local shelter. I wanted so badly to bring him home, but I knew hubby would freak! He was such a good boy, even shook hands with me. I took him out for a walk in the yard there to at least give him a bit of exercise and love. I hope and pray he was adopted, because they are very high kill here!

Thank you for giving Rocky a wonderful home! He certainly looks happy and well-accepted by your entire family!

Rocky and I Just went for our very first walk together! He was very well behaved! He walks great on the leash, dosent pull or anything! I also got to hear him bark for the first time. My neighbor was driving by in his truck, saw us and pulled over. We chatted about Rocky for a bit, he used to own two Saints, but Both have passed on. As he was pulling away, Rocky starting Barking. It scared the crap out of me, cause i wasnt expecting it! Boy is it loud!

Rocky is laying at my feet, Snoring!!!! I thought Duke was loud! Rocky sounds like a darn freight train!!

I laughed aloud at your being startled by how big his bark is. Yup, Saints don't bark often - and now you that it's a very good thing they don;t. Takes a lot to be worth actually barking about, but that broad, deep chest gives them a very resonant bark. And the snore - yup! You have an honest-to-goodness Saint Bernard there - that proves it!
