Every time I hear about someone who has the kind of land/space that you describe, I get jealous. I think - Boy, my beagle Ginger would just love that!!!

I also am always tempted to suggest a Beagle to anyone who want a dog and has never had one before. But alas, that wouuld be irresponsible of me!!! I just love Beagle - but truth is, a Beagle would probably be a bad choice for you. They love to hunt and unless your idea of a walk is to go out into the woods and watch your Beagle thrashing through the brush and listen to her/him howl for hours (that's my idea of a nice outing by the way) - a Beagle is most likely "not" your dog. Same goes for all hunters - Bassets, Bird dogs an d the like!!!
