I'm so sorry you have to go through all this. Please remember to take care of yourself or you won't be good to anyone, let along yourself.

My stuff was held hostage by bogus moving company who moved me to Michigan. It was one of those classic cases you see on "60 Minutes". Give us more money or you don't get your stuff. What was supposed to be a $1,275 move turned into over $3,000. Turns out the moving company was under investigation by the NTSB for that same reason. They were ordered to stop doing business. I'm sure by now they've changed their name and have opened up shop again. I was going to sue them, and would've won. However, the court clerk told me she's seen cases like this before and collecting any monies would've been nearly impossible.

The investigator told me the worst place to look for a mover is on the internet (which is what I did). A very expensive lesson learned there.

I trusted U-haul because they are the leader & I've used them before. Moved 500km, had few issues. Moved Chad & Andrew out in 1 night & had no issues.. tried to do the 1 night with me & ran into problems right away!! It was all down hill from there.

I just called Peel Police to make sure I had everything ready & to make sure I had all the correct info.

I just have to go down to u-haul, call the police back & an officer will show up & sort things out. My friend who rented the truck, just needs to show up, to say its my stuff & I can take it all.. Then he can leave.. He won't help me move my stuff cause he knows he'll loose his temper & end up getting into doo-doo.. Luckly David, is willing to help me out, which is good, cause hes a big strong guy.

If by chance u-haul still refuses, the officer said I can call the media, which should do the trick quickly & or take them to civil court... Can't charge them, don't fully understand why not, but I'll educate myself later if the time comes.

So not looking forward to this mess

Sorry you're going through this hassle! We have moved 3 times and we always just rent a large truck and move the stuff ourselves. I've always been fearful of something like that happening.

We drove the truck, u-haul didn't help us pack or anything.. they just towed the truck away.. which prob. broke ecerything I had, as I packed it for going only 20km/hr & less then 1km in distance... All the roads leading to where the truck should be is all 80km/hr roads & about 30km away I'm sure my antique horse is completely destroyed.. it was so very rare.. but I don't think the seatbelt would support it at such a great angle & speed. I prob lost my 30yr old fish tank & all my statues.... I can only imagen the mess & heart break I'll see tonight. I'm also sure my deep fryer is going to be knocked over... Oil is such a mess

I just wish the corporation would communicate with their dealers better... cause this never would have happened in the first place.

The media is a very powerful tool. I don't think U-Haul would appreciate being in the spotlight in a bad way. It would ruin their otherwise stellar reputation. Might want to call the media and give them a heads up as to when you'll be going to get your stuff. Who knows? They may show up, cameras in hand.

Everything seemed to be going well, until the female officer found out that the renter (Chad) was a married gay man

From the beginning she was nasty with Chad, but once she found out he was a married gay man, she got even more nasty & helped us even less. She was pleasent with me, but the second she opened her mouth for Chad, nothing but B!TCH came out of her mouth!

The other officers were great (all males) & were getting somewhere with this BS situation until she took over with her PMS attitude... she complained that she was late for dinner & ended everything & made us go home... the male officer said he will go home & will look up the laws for our situation & will call us before noon tomorrow(what is now today).

I just want my stuff. I need clothing to wear, I can't keep wearing the same pants for days at a time... these pants are so gross, I'm almost tempted to go around pantless at home just to wash them (ewwwww). I'd borrow my roommies clothing, but I'm too short & too small to wear their pants. All 3 guys are over 6' & over 200p. The only female is much larger then myself.

Next week I have to go to PEI for xmas... How do I go to xmas with family when I can't bring their gifts? or bring my gifts home? (my suitcase & bags are in the u-haul)... I tried to ask dad to lend me the $ But all he would do was yell at me (like I needed more of that). Not sure I even want to go to PEI anylonger... Don't really need a week long vacation just to be yelled at.


I had no issue affording the 200.00 u-haul bill. But they adding all kinds of crap to it & charged us for another week (they were the ones who couldn't find the truck, so I couldn't pay even if I wanted to, which I did!!).. I don't have $900.00!!

I'm hoping they'll take my whole pay cheque tomorrow, which is 1/2 the cost & atleast let me take 1/2 of my things.
