I finally got over here to meet Ben. Oh my. Dare I say he is even more beautiful that Gracie. There is something about a golden that makes me want to get a comb and start running it through that beautious fur. I'm know I can't handle a big dog, but Ben sure makes me want to try. Thank goodness you live so far away.

I'm sorry that I haven't gotten to this thread until now.
Logan, Ben looks like a sweet boy and he sure is lucky to have you as a foster mom!
I would love to see some more photos of him, maybe some with him and your other furkids together.
    RIP sweet Samantha

Just checking in to see how Ben and the assorted members of the fur family are getting along. Oh, you too, Logan. Keeping busy are we?

Ben is fine! He has some issues that we are working on, but overall, he is a good boy. He is a counter surfer, though, and wants to be close (underfoot) all the time. 86 pounds of "underfoot" gets old! Ha Ha!!!!

I'll try and get some pictures, but there hasn't been much time to do that.

Thanks for asking, though. He'll find a home, I'm sure, but I need to get him ready, before they can do that.

Man and I thought 40 lbs. underfoot was annoying. I couldn't imagine 86!!

Ben's prospective new family is coming to see him on Friday afternoon! This is much faster than I thought it would be. They are a young couple with 2 cats, no dogs and no children, so they will have the time for him that he desperately needs. He is such a sweetheart with the best disposition. If our circumstances were different, I'd really, really like to keep him. I want me another big Golden boy, one day. I just don't think the timing is right for us now. If they love him, and I think they will, he will leave with them tomorrow. It's that mixed emotion, again, for me. I will miss him, but I will be so happy for him, too!!!!

Probably time to do a fecal exam on at least one of them to try and figure out
if they have picked up a parasite or if it is just a virus they are sharing.

It could have easily been brought into the house by our foster boy, Ben,
who spent a week at the vet before he came a week and a half ago.

    Double -

Do you think New Family can handle a possible SICK-new-doggy ??

With the wrong introduction - being sick may be a deal-breaker.
On the other hand ... needing a little extra care may be a relationship building advantage.

GOOD LUCK making a good First Impression, Ben!!

Oh Phred, I should have explained this when I made this post. I was running short on time and figured I'd come back later and explain. There is NO way that I'll let him go tomorrow with them if he is determined to be sick. In fact, I plan to take him in tomorrow morning, along with one or more others, to have them checked. We don't need for these nice people to start out life with a sick Ben, for sure! And obviously, something is going on in my house right now. The good news is that this probably is a parasite or virus, not something specific to Honey like cancer or a blockage. Whew! I sure had to find out the hard way that she is likely to be suffering from some community type illness, not a horrible, life threatening disease, though. *sigh*

We had a perfect night, in our home. Mack was in our hall bathroom, "his room", and had no problem. Ben was gated in the kitchen/den and he didn't have any problems either.

Honey and Lilly slept in the bedroom with me and neither of them had a problem, either.

Everyone is eating now and taking their Metronidazole. Dr. Robinson and I talked this morning and he prescribed enough Metronidazole for a week, for all of them.

If these folks fall for Ben, as I think they will, I will send medication home with them, to just be on the safe side.

Ben is going to his "forever" home. They have left him with me for a couple of hours so that they can "shop" to get ready. We'll send him on with food that he has been eating and a nice bed from his original Mom.

What a sweetheart he is and I will miss him so much!!!!!

Be GOOD, Ben - and Best of Luck with your new Furever Home!

Too bad we won't see more Ben Tails ... unless ...

    Hey Logan ~
Why don't you *PRINT* his PT Tails postings - and send them along with him.
And drop a hint that his new FurParents could *JOIN* Pet Talk.

I am so slow in responding! Sorry about that!!!!!

Ben did go to his new home on Friday evening and I was able to visit with him a bit on Sunday when I delivered his bed, which I had washed over the weekend. He's a bit shy, still, not eating a whole lot, but I know he is in the best hands. They adore him!!!!

I'm going to call and check up on him tonight, just to make sure he is doing ok. I urged them to take him to the vet, just to ease their minds that all is ok. These folks have never had a dog and their one request to the rescue was that they please get a "lap" dog. Well, they got one!!! Ha Ha!!!!!

I'll keep you posted as I learn more about how he is doing and adjusting.

    Logan
