i don't own any mals, but i have two wolves that are currently on a long vacation in the mountains of WV with a dear friend of mine. theyre wild as can be, and i would never let anyone unfarmiliar to them into their "yard", but they are gentle towards me. they are definitely pure wolf, and behave accordingly. i wouldnt have them any other way! the point is not to make a big baby out of a wolf.. to completely domesticate them would be a crime. they are wild, and should remain as much so as possible. i rescued the wolves i have- they were unable to hunt. if it werent for those who would shoot a wolf on sighting, i would try to introduce them back into the wild. as it is, they are too farmiliar with people and have no inhibitions about being near them. they wouldnt know any better than to wreak havoc on some poor rancher's cow pastures...

my aunt owns a pure mal, and shes absolutely gorgeous! however, she has a rather bad attitude towards other animals (they all seem to look like food to her), and her brother even killed a sheep on a farm nearby his home. thankfully, shes great with people and even doesnt seem to mind screaming toddlers. shes a wonderful pet!

Welcome Kiska! Your wolves sound absolutely wonderful! i have spoken with a couple who stopped to pet my dogs about two wolves they used to won. They said much the same - they were wonderful with kids, friendly towards them, but not for everyone. And the temperment you point out about your aunt's mal is one of the biggest differences between mals and sibes. Sibes were bred not only to be a working dog, but a family pet as well. They are more social & friendlier to each other & humans than mals (in general). They share same bull-headed independence, though!

we had to mals when I was younger but the one got soo big and used to knock us and everything over so my dad gave her to a famrer who bred mals. and he always had another female and she ended having parvo when my parents bought her and died But she still has a tombstone and stuff at the pet semitar (sp) and we went to see her a few times.
