Did the Vet offer any other remedies? Any other procedure they
    might want to try?

Quite frankly- I think she has cracked ribs. That can be hidden in x-rays..

or when you lift her, it pinches a nerve in her back that is already sensitive. I hope the vet finds it. My vet would have gone over nose to tail. As I am sure yours is doing the same.

she said to give the R medicine a try. And to maybe find a specialist that could go deeper as to why she's hurting. She was thinking that maybe bone cancer is a possibility, but that didn't show up on the x ray. She also said that some dogs are just sensitive to being picked up.

There is absotulely nothing physically wrong with Piper, but she yelps when you pick her up often because of what was done to her in her old home. She does it out of fear. Could Runner be doing that too? I hope you figure it out soon!

Very good orangutango- it could very possibly be behaviorial. What did the exam at the vet show? Did the dog react to their manipulation or silent. If its behaviorial, I would avoid picking her up until she trusts you. Everytime you pick her up puts the progress back to square one.
