A short coated terv is still a short coated terv regardless of sex -- it all depends on the genetics. A terv out of two mals is likely to have a shorter coat. Lack of coat isn't really more "accepted" in the US -- it's just more common to find a dog lacking coat in the show ring. In Europe, with the amount of Belgians out there, one wouldn't even bother showing a shorter coated dog.
