I'm so sorry Chipper isn't feeling well, and all so sudden! You'd think the people at the shelter would have noticed him not feeling well, but it happened so quickly.I rarely come to Dog Health so I am glad you alerted me!
Kimmy, I finished your signature the other day but haven't had a chance of uploading it yet. Here it is if you'd still like it.
{{HUGS}} to you and Chipper, we'll be thinking of you.

Kay...I think he was okay for about 5 days after they brought him home.
don't breed or buy while shelter dogs die....
I have been frosted!
Thanks Kfamr for the signature!
What a terrible thing for everyone to be going through. Poor Chipper........he really wants to feel better that's for sure.
I hope you will have some good updates for us. I will be sending some prayers for you and will keep watching this thread.
It's like deja vu honestly. Walking into that clinic I instantly remembered the way it smelled and sounded when Kia was admitted. Only difference is that Kia was wheeled in on a gurney while Chipper waited with me.
He's been admitted and is on an IV and catheter. Dr. Beal and his staff are very nice and I like him. They did a fecal test for parvo right off the bat and it came back negative. A good sign, but Dr. Beal says there is a slim chance it could still be parvo.
They are going to do extensive blood and urine tests. If his white blood cell count is low, he will be put into the isolation ward where they will test more extensively for parvo. If his white blood cell count is normal, they will focus on Addison's Disease and whipworms. If those tests come back negative or inconclusive, they will take X-rays to look for a blockage. They will also do a test for salmonella just in case.
But for the time being they feel they are dealing with Addison's Disease, whipworms, or a blockage.
During the exam, Chipper was found to have a slow heart rate, his ears were noticiably cold, but his lymph nodes are okay.
They expect to have a clear answer today, will keep him overnight, and hopefully he can come home tomorrow.
If I don't hear back from them by 3 p.m., they told me to call in for an update.
I contacted Oakland County and Chipper was picked up as a stray in Waterford, MI. He was already neutered, so either he ran away or someone let him go.
Dr. Beal said Chipper's lucky I got him in when I did. He's a very sick puppy.![]()
