    Came home and found vomit in his crate.

    He wants to play with his toys so he's in a slightly better mood. He keeps bringing me different squeaky toys to play tug.

    Didn't touch any of the food left in his crate with him. Hopefully he'll want some dinner.

    He is still drinking water and having good strong pees. I also keep checking his skin to see if it's tenting at all (which it isn't) so as far as I can tell he's staying hydrated.

    He received a DACCP vaccination from the shelter in September. I tried google but I can't figure out what that covers. Distemper, Parvo, or both?

    I'll be calling the vet first thing in the morning.

    That's a good idea to call in the morning. Hope they can help him
    get leveled out. Poor Chipper. Hope you feel better soon.

    "DACCP" is a puzzle!

    Most Vets shoot a "Five-in-One" Vaccine, normally abbreviated "DHLPP" which protects against:
    * Distemper
    * Hepatitis
    * Leptospirosis
    * Parainfluenza
    * Parvovirus

    "The ASPCA recommends a five-in-one vaccination that protects dogs against several infectious diseases, including distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza and parvovirus, a highly contagious and potentially deadly disease that causes severe vomiting and diarrhea."

    Did you check the Rescue web site to see if they mention anything about the
    vaccinations they use?

    Sure do hope the Poor Kid gets to feelin better!!

    Here's where we got him from:
    http://www.oakgov.com/anmlctrl/

    No signs of what they vaccinate for. Though I'm curious why Chipper's adoption fee was $136.50 when their site states it's $119 (and why a sterilization fee would be assessed when they didn't neuter him). :\

    Anyway... his vaccination certificate says he received a DACCP and Bordetella on 9/24/06. He was heartworm tested (came back negative) and wormed on 9/29/06.

    I took him to the vet on Monday, November 20th and his brief examination showed no fleas, clean ears, good teeth and overall decent condition. Dropped off his stool sample on Tuesday and it came back negative for parasites.

    He ate crunchies with vigor with no vomiting and had loose stool but I knew that would be expected with the change in diet from whatever he was getting at the shelter.

    He ate a full bowl of crunchies Thursday evening and besides the added bites of turkey, got no other people food.

    Friday morning he refused treats and food, had diarreha, but drank water.

    Friday night he began vomiting and refused food and the diarreha got worse.

    Saturday was the same. Diarreha, vomiting, refusal of food but drank plenty of water.

    Sunday morning he nibbled a handful worth of crunchies. Things were looking up. He again nibbled some more upon getting home.

    This morning he refused food and treats. More diarreha, vomit when I got home.

    I'm so baffled.

    He's now laying on the couch, Kia on the floor near him. He doesn't want to do anything. I have a really bad gut feeling that he's not going to want dinner.

    Do you think I could add some tuna juice to it? I miss my chipper boy.

    Kimmy ~

    Serious suggestion ~
    Maybe it's time to completely Empty & Flush his system ...
    do what Vets suggest for "upset tummy" ...

    NOTHING by mouth except small sips of water for 24 Hours.

    If the Vet needs to X-ray or Ultrasound him - they'll want him "empty" ...
    so starting him on a Fast tonight would help.

    Feel Better, Bub!

    I'm sorry to hear that he still isn't feeling better. I will keep Chipper in my thoughts that he starts to feel better soon.

    But he's fasted for over 48 hours already. Two handfuls of food is the equivilant of what he had on Sunday. Pooped this morning and has had no food. I can't imagine a more empty tummy. How long can they go without food?

    Poor Kid!

    How long?
    A dog in otherwise good condition can go several DAYS
    without solid food - as long as he stays hydrated with water.

    I'd leave him on "empty" till the Vet gets a look and runs some tests.

    He MAY have a food alergy - and just a few pieces of kibble could be
    enough to trigger the upsets.

    I STILL can't find any info on the "DACCP" vaccination - could you be misreading the letters?

    His "Fees"??
    Extra $25.50 for License? For Rabies? For "storage"?
    LOTS of Rescues charge a "Flat Fee" which includes spay/neuter (IF required) -
    everyone pays the SAME fee regardless of the critter's spay/neuter needs.
