Great pictures! i love the ones of Luca as you try to get her to go in! LOL! But with 3rd place, she must have decided she like it after all. Buck looks awesome!

Those are some great pictures! Looks like a lot of fun, too, and I'm sure their medals made it all the more enjoyable!
That looks like so much fun, I've always wanted to do it.No clubs around here though.
You're so lucky! How does the titling work? How many more placements and what kind of placements do they need before they get a itle?
I've been BOO'd!
Love the pics! Your dogs had a lot of fun, I'm sure. I really enjoy watching that on tv. One of my favorite things about it is watching their tails spin around while they're in mid jump. I would love to see this in real life.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
I miss you
I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.
Fur as dark as the night.
Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

Thanks so much everyone!
Dock dogs is a competition where dogs compete to see who can jump the furthest off of the dock. To make it more fair, there are seperate divisions: Novice, Junior, Senior, and Master. You do not have to enter a division, just show up and have your dogs jump and whatever division they jump in is what they "compete" in. So, Novice is for dogs who jump from 0'-9'11" and since both of my dogs were in that range, they competed against the other dogs who jumped in that range. If Buck had jumped just one more inch, he would have been at the bottom of the Junior division!Originally Posted by Maltese_Love
The dogs do not have to be a certain breed or even a purebred and all you need is $20 to pay the entry fee
If you go to www.dockdogs.com you can go the Events page and then at the top click on "Events Calendar" and it will show you the upcoming events. They are supposed to post the events for 2007 soon. If there is any near you then you can just go to the event and sign up that day. They have open dock before and between all of the "waves" where you can practice.Originally Posted by finn's mom
LOL, there are no clubs within 5-6 hours of here! I just showed up and went for it! The competition has really grown in size this year so there will be a lot more events all over the USA and I believe Canada as well (the tour bus that was down here was from Ontario, so I'm assuming they have competitions up there alsoOriginally Posted by wolfsoul

They need 5 qualifying jumps in the same division for a title. For instance, if they jump between 0 and 9'11" 5 times then they will get a NJ (Novice Jumper) title. If they jump between those lengths 4 times and then jump further another time, then they don't title. But if in the next competition they jump between that length again, then they title.
Also, if you enter more than one wave in a day, then you can earn two legs towards your title that day. In each wave a dog is allowed two jumps and the longest jump is their qualifying score. So, if you entered the first wave and your dog jumped 8' and also entered the second wave and your dog only jumped 5', you will have earned 2 legs. And the competitions are usually two or three days, so it's very possible to earn your title in a 3 day weekend.
Looks like yous had a lot of fun. I can't believe what a looker that Buck boy turned out to be and I am not even a very big fan of labs but boy oh boy I love yours. Thanks for sharing!
Soar high & free my sweet fur angels. I love you Nanook & Raustyk... forever & ever.
