colbi, those all sound like animal names to me! Especially becuase we have a gerbil named Terrence. (I also have a family member named Colby)
It's cute, I like it.
It's too cutesy, I don't like it.
It can go either way, but is usally good.
It can go either way, but is usually bad.
You should be beaten with a wet noodle for running down people's naming process.

I think its cute so long as it doesnt override everything. however I do choose names that fit together, if the name does not "fit" with the other name in the pair, for axample "Happy and Misty" the names just sound right together, or "Taru and Toivo", or "Tori and Isko" the names just sound like they belong together.

I have a hard enough time keeping their names straight without them all starting with the same letter!Lacey and Layla, just happened to be names I always liked. When I had RB Mandy, I'd slip and call my cat Missy Mindy sometimes.

I always thought usng the same letter for naming the kids or the pets was a little corny, and now all three of my dogs, start with the same sound! (thought not the same letter). I didn't relly think about it too much with Sadie and Cincy, but then we got Spot and he was already named and it sounds intentional.
Guess I have become corny![]()

I suppose it's ok for pets, as long as the names sound different enough so as not to confuse the animals.
I find it so incredibly obnoxious for children, however. If you happen to like two names that happen to start with the same letter, that's one thing. For example, my son's name is Dylan, and if I would have had another son I might have named him Dane. Only because I liked both names.
However, I think three or five or seven kids who's names all start with "P" or whatever is silly. There was a family in my hometown who did the "L" thing ... Lonnie, Larry, Lynn, etc. Well, the last girl got named "LaCrisha". She hated her name and always said she got stuck with such a horrid name only because her mom ran out of normal "L" names.
The rhyming name thing is way worse, though. I have cousins named (and I'm not even joking) Jerry, Larry, Terry and Gary. Seriously. It's just beyond comprehension.
I think naming a child is important. They are going to have that name for the rest of their life, and the name is a reflection on the parent as well. I think being "cute" with what another human being is going to be called for their entire life is more than a bit immature, IMO.

"We are raised to honor all the wrong explorers and discoverers - thieves planting flags, murderers carrying crosses. Let us at last praise the colonizers of dreams."- P.S. Beagle
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king." - J.R.R. Tolkien
What bothers me more is when it's twins. It's even harder to tell them apart, you don't need to give them similar names.
Like these 2 identical twins in my school a few years ago: Maxine and Maxene (pronounced Maxine and Maxaine )![]()

I don't think it's the best thing in the world... but sometime it's not too bad.
My sister has 2 kids.... Julia and Jacob... that's not too bad.
But my parents friends have 5 boys.... Anthony, Andrew, Aurther, Arvin and Allan. THAT'S gettin' a little crazy!![]()
Its cute, but if I had more than two kids I wouldn't have them all the same first letter. My brother and I names both begin with JIf I had twins that looked very alike I wouldn't have the same first letters unless they were different it could get confusing for people.
