He has written permission & its on my VISA file that he's doing the wedding shopping, as I have to work during the day. Hes a stay at home nanny for my friend's 2yr old (I live with them), so he can do most of the shopping during the day, when shops are open.

VISA has already called me at work several times to make sure my file was correct, that Chad has permission to sign/use the card...

Chad doesn't have his own credit card anylonger. Not getting into the details (he did nothing wrong, he was a victim), but that mess will be fixed soon. However soon wasn't fast enough, as the wedding is on Dec 2ed.

This is at least a few years old... I remember getting spammed with it almost daily when her grandmother and friends found out I had my first unsecured credit card a few years back .

And little amounts will generally trigger a warning flag... lots and lots of activity, even if it is in smaller amounts, will generally get your account flagged. I had to deal with that a lot with the poor tourists at my last job.

Speeking of the little amounts.. also going to a gas station 2 times/days in a row will get some cards put on hold. Chad filled his car one day & my car the next day.. then they put a hold on his account.. Thats nearly weekly & is annoying & embarassing. Chad puts gas in 3 cars on a regular bases & sometimes puts gas in the 4th car. He keeps telling them that he has up to 4 cars to put gas in, so to please stop putting his card on hold, because of gas. But they always ignore him... In a sence its good, but to this degree its not helpful.. its also only a 300.00 card & cannot be over drawn, so its not a major issue if someone steals it.. a pain yes, but not the end of the world.

I bought a printer on a Master Card. They *claimed* they called me to check on the transaction; I think they put the wrong number on speed dial because they said they called several times. Anyway, I went to renew my car registration online, and it bounced! WTH? I called up the customer service number, had to answer security questions, and they reinstated my account right away. I thanked them for their vigilance, and admonished theme to dial the phone number, not put it on speed dial, in case there was an error.

Yes, I've been flagged too on my account- in the middle of a lengthy purchase at none other than Walmart, where you have to wait an hour in line in the first place.

When we moved to Denver we were a bit short on cash after shelling out so much money for first month's rent and deposit, so we used our card. The company was suspicious that someone from Iowa was spending so much money in Colorado so I couldn't check out at, and I had a shopping cart full of stuff (already rung up).

So, after standing there for 10 minutes, the manager called the credit card company, I had to verify it was me using the card with a million questions, and then, they asked me, "Would I like to update my information now?"

Working in retail, I've had customers get really pissed at me when I ask to see their ID.

A young woman came up and asked for the items she had put on hold, a comforter and a set of sheets totally almost $500. I asked her to swipe her credit card on the thingy, which she did. When she signed the slip, it was a different name. She said it was her mother's card and she was authorized to use it. Sorry, can't do it. She got REALLY angry with me and said to call teh bank, which I did (I also called over my manager). The bank told me NOT to accept it. She then called her mother on her cellphone and the woman ripped my manager a new rectum. We tried to explain the situation to her and how the bank told us not to accept the card. She didn't want to hear any of it. After ringing her up and then cancelling her transaction twice, the manager got flustered and okayed the whole purchase. As long as it was on HIS shoulders and not mine.

Moral to the story is, if you have nothing to hide, show me your ID. If not, go somewhere else. I need my job!!

    Staci,

Thanks for the heads up!! With the holidays approaching, those kinds of people will be out in full force, trying to rip off the stores. It's amazing what great lengths people will go to. *sigh*

I use my dad's credit card all of the time. Instead of my using my card and then my dad reimbursing me by going to the bank to deposit money from his account, I just swipe his card. Especially when I go to the grocery or go run errands for him. I don't see why if I have the last name as him, I can't sign my OWN name and be fine. I've never had a problem with any store denying my signature to his card. Many stores have said to sign my OWN name, not my dad's - which I've always done. If I went to a store to purchase something, and got stopped, I would be really upset. I understand that it's for the card owner's security, but PLEASE! He's my FATHER who gave me PERMISSION to use it.

but not everyone knows that -
what about the case of a husband and wife divorce (just by looking at the name they can't tell its your father) and the wife took the card to run up as many charges as possible before it was closed....
